Does this worry you about cap and trade?
When the Heritage Foundation did its analysis of Waxman-Markey, it broadly compared the economy with and without the carbon tax. Under this more comprehensive scenario, it found Waxman-Markey would cost the economy 1 billion in 2020, which is ,870 for a family of four. As the bill’s restrictions kick in, that number rises to ,800 for a family of four by 2035.
Note also that the CBO analysis is an average for the country as a whole. It doesn’t take into account the fact that certain regions and populations will be more severely hit than others — manufacturing states more than service states; coal producing states more than states that rely on hydro or natural gas. Low-income Americans, who devote more of their disposable income to energy, have more to lose than high-income families.
Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won’t pinch wallets, behind the scenes they’ve acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.
Do you also study economics? We are on our last leg as a country with this recession. This is what it is going to take to put us into a full blown depression. Email your congressman TONIGHT. Whether you are a conservative or liberal…this WILL affect you. .00 gas prices will affect you!

Honestly, I don’t care anymore.
We have lost control of our government. They are more interested in power and control than serving us or our country.
And We the People, are just complacent little sheep following the shepherd off the cliff. As long as I have my American Idol, I don’t care what they do in DC.
Where was all this gnashing of teeth when Bush and the Republicans were busy doubling the size of government, and wiping their butts with what’s left of the Constitution? Now that the other side is doing it, it is time to raise hell?
All I can think to do is arm up and wait for the anarchy to commence. Maybe you should too. Writing your congressman accomplishes nothing. THEY ARE NOT LISTENING! Both sides of the aisle are just flip sides of the same totalitarian coin.
"Democrats defeated all of them."
Good. Climate change is non-negotiable.
I’m not worried about paying 100/household, I’m worried about global warming.
And the Heritage Foundation is biased. Please use an objective source, or your post means nothing.
Heritage Foundation’s homepage: Conservative Policy Research and Analysis.
Cap and tax will ruin our economy. Obama is pure evil.
Yes. Unlimited regulation as set forth by the extremist factions, with no compromise available with Republicans is scary.
This is a matter of putting environmental issues over the well-being of American citizens in the worst financial crisis we’ve experienced since 1929. This administration is dangerously out of touch. There is no system of checks and balances anymore.
I do worry about our environment. But this bill shoot us in the foot, while the world dumps pollutants into the environment. We pay while ‘developing countries’ are exempt from EPA-like environmental standards. (China and India, the two biggies).
this is the PROGRESSIVE radical liberal wet dream ! this bill will kneecap our industry and our economy.the dopes(our public) are clueless.they are too busy watching sports and whining about normal everyday sh*i*t. the America you know is about to end !
If our representatives do this to us, I promise to devote the remaining years of my life working towards setting term limits for congressmen and senators.
We already contacted our congressman.
