How smart do you have to be to be accepted into Oxford/Cambridge Uni? Plus a question concerning careers.?
I am 14 and I am thinking about my future now.
How smart do you have to be, such as grades etc to be accepted into Oxford/Cambridge.
Currently, I am studying my GCSE’s and I am predicted A-A* in all of them. I have taken 3 of the courses early and in all of the mocks I received an A*.
These being: Maths, Religious and Expressive Arts (Music and Drama).
I know this may not count toward Uni. as A Level is next but it give you an idea. =D
I live in London- if location affects dicisions.
I would like to go into Chartarded accountancy/Stock Broker etc. Does anyone know, from personal experience if there are any similar jobs that pay roughly the same and how are they to become very sucessful in.
Also, does Oxford/Cambridge offer courses that would suit any of the above and are there any other bits of information I might need to know.
Thanks for helping me with my future =D
[Please don't leave just a website as an answer, could you try and elabourate]
For the first guy, thank you for the link. However, I have taken part in the London Gifted and Talented Course.
[Does that sound arrogant, sorry if it does]

for heavens sake, sort your spelling out before you put an application form in…it will go in the bin if it’s anything like the above question.
Considering you have gained A-A*, I gather that you are rather smart. It could help for you to join YGT (young gifted and talented) ( http://ygt.dcsf.gov.uk ) and ask your school to see if they do something.
It basically depends on your levels at A level. You should try to go to the Universities websites and see what the levels are required to achieve.

Hey, I’m 15 and am pretty much in the same position as you.
From what I’ve gathered from my teachers etc, you need straight As at A-level to stand a chance of getting an interview (A*s by the time we get round to doing our A-Levels - they introduce them next year, I think). It’s not necessarily just the grades you get, however (nor the number you attain), but also how you stand as an individual. Hobbies, interests, roles etc all play a significant role.
Obviously there’s controversy as to whether coming from a private/public or state school influences your chances, but I wouldn’t worry too much. Just try your best in all subjects, and become a ’rounded individual’.
That’s what they want to see!
Good luck, mate.
Yuoll need strong subjects (religious and expessive arts? eh?), and most of the students they take are from elite schools (which, yes, is ridiculously unfair). There really is no need to say I WANT OXBRIDGE! there are lots of good univrsities out there and you should choose them by matching their strencgths to what you want your carreer to be not say "do oxfor or cambridge have these courses?". Seriously, do not worry about going to oxbridge.
Now you should be worrying about your A-level options, and you should definitely not think too hard about anything like this untill after GCSEs whan you have some qualifications and know how well you did.
I don’t wish to show the chip on my shoulder, but a rich daddy would probably help!
