I want to change real estate companies. How do I tell my broker?
I am a new agent and I have only been with my broker a few weeks. i can already see that there is no future there.
There are a small company with two owners, 14 agents and no franchise affiliation. They have low marketing costs since everything is created on their own computer. They give a 70/30 split to everyone and no floor time. They also give free leads.
The downside is that the marketing material does not look very professional. The leads are horrible because they come from their website and the only way that you can search their website for ANYTHING is if you put in your information. I can never get anything done. I still do not have my extension set up even though people who started after me have their’s up and I am the only one not on the brochure. There is always an excuse. Today, they finally fixed my info on the website. Also, their website is HORRIBLE. It’s dark with a black background. I should have thought about all this before but I didn’t.
I don’t like being cruel and they are really nice ladies (the owners). How do I tell them that I want to switch companies?

I hate to see this but step up as an adult and tell them "I’m sorry, I don’t really think this is going to work out for me. Thank you so much for the opportunity. My last day will be ____."
Quick advice:
1. Make sure you have another position before putting in your notice.
2. Make your case in a firm but respectful manner. Don’t burn your bridges.
Good luck.
Honesty is always the best policy. Tell them what you are telling us and that you feel this is just not a right match. How can you be productive with what they are offering - or lack of. . . Or perhaps share with them your opinion on bettering their Company like changing the website, changing the marketing material. Another option would be for you to just create your own marketing materials and doing your own email blasts. You can also get your own leads from Title companies or request permission to call previous borrowers on record to see if they want to refi. You pretty much need to be more pro-active and take control. This is a tough business and only the strong survive.
But at the end of the day, a job is a job, you can definitely find a better Broker to work for if that is what you choose. Brokers always look for good Loan Officers so start calling around and see if they are interested in meeting with you.
Good luck!
Believe me your broker won’t be angry. They have agents come and go all the time. As a new agent you should be with a large company with support and trainning. You may not get a better split but you will make more money in the long run.
